While visiting a friend in Des Moines, Michelle stumbled upon a similar pottery-painting studio that sparked an idea. The concept of a paint-it-yourself pottery studio immediately resonated with her. She saw the potential for an inclusive and artistic environment that would allow people to express themselves, find joy in creating, and leave with a one-of-a-kind piece of art.

Upon returning to Cedar Rapids, Michelle decided to bring that vision to life. Potters' Obsession opened its doors, quickly becoming a beloved destination for both seasoned artists and casual creatives alike. Michelle’s mission has always been to create a space where guests can feel free to express themselves, tap into their artistic side, and embrace their individuality in a welcoming, positive environment.

1. Pick a PieceChoose from a wide selection of unfinished pottery. Whether you’re looking for a functional piece like a mug or something decorative like a vase, there’s no shortage of options.

2. Design ItPotters' Obsession provides all the creative tools you need, from idea books and stamps to stencils and transfer paper. They also have sponges and other tools to help you refine your design and make it uniquely yours.

3. Paint ItWith over 60 vibrant colors to choose from, you can personalize your pottery to reflect your style, vision, or event theme. Whether you want to keep it simple or go all out with patterns, the possibilities are endless.

4. Glaze and Fire ItOnce your pottery is painted, the team at Potters' Obsession will glaze and fire your creation, ensuring it’s ready for pickup in just one week. Your masterpiece will be durable and ready to show off or give as a gift!

The cost is a $7 studio fee plus the price of the pottery, which makes it an affordable way to enjoy a creative experience while socializing and sipping your favorite drink.
